Alcuza Prize
Monva won first prize, during the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 harvest years,
for its tanks numbers 9 and 3 which contained both 24.000 kg. of oil. Our company also won this prize
during the 1999/2000 harvest year, for its tank number 7 which contained 18,000 kg of oil, and came second for the 2003/2004 season.
This annual prize is awarded to oil producers in the Sierra Mágina Denomination of Origin (D.O.) for the best quality extra virgin olive oil from one tank from one cellar. The contest is conducted according to the rules stated by the International Olive Oil Council.
"Alcuza" is a word with Arabian origins, used to refer to conical containers traditionally used for storing olive oil.
Lechuza Prize
This prize is awarded annually by the Sierra Mágina D.O. regulating body. The prize recognizes the best cellar, based on the portion of its total olive oil production that is qualified as “extra virgin”.
Monva was second for the 2000/2001 harvest.
